chemical composition
The main component of calamine is zinc carbonate, which contains a small amount of 0.27% calcium oxide, 0.45% magnesium oxide, 0.58% iron oxide, and 0.01% manganese oxide. Zinc is often replaced by a small amount of iron (divalent), and some also contain small amounts of cobalt, copper, cadmium, lead, and trace amounts of germanium and indium. The calamine from Qingdao and Jinan contains small amounts of impurities such as iron, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, and extremely trace amounts of sodium.
pharmacological action
Calamine is used to treat skin inflammation or surface trauma. It can partially dissolve and absorb the secretion of the wound, and converge. It can also drive away local Staphylococcus and limit its reproduction, and has good anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
