Character identification
Black cuttlebone: slightly parallelogram, 2-4cm long and 1.5-2cm wide. The surface is grayish brown, with obvious band like protrusions on the top, oblique textures on both sides, and slightly upward curling near the tail end. Hard and tough in texture.
Long cuttlebone: Slightly elongated, with one end relatively thin, 2.5-5cm long and 1-1.5cm wide. The surface is grayish yellow, with obvious band like protrusions on top. There are dark brown shallow grooves and oblique textures on both sides of the band. Hard and brittle in texture.
Cuttlebone: Slightly cylindrical or semi-circular, composed of many membranous thin layers stacked together, 2.5-4cm long and 2-3cm wide. The surface is light yellow brown, with indistinct band like protrusions on top, and a flat or concave bottom. Lightweight, loose and tough in texture.
