Green salt, rock salt, Rong salt, Hu salt, rock salt, Qiang salt, and Yintu salt.
2. Mineral morphology
The crystal structure belongs to the equiaxed crystal system. Crystals are mostly cubes, which aggregate into loose or dense grain like and block like structures. Due to the rapid growth of the crystal edges of the cube, the crystal surface is concave and funnel-shaped. Colorless transparent or gray (chromatin is muddy oil spots), yellow (stained with iron hydroxide), red (stained with anhydrous iron oxide), brown or black (stained with organic matter), or blue spots. The stripes are white. Has a glassy luster that darkens or appears oily due to deliquescence. Complete cleavage. The fracture is shell like. Hardness is 2-2.5. Relative density 2.1 to 2.2 (measured value is 2.152).
3. Origin distribution
Formed mostly in dry salt bearing basins and modern salt lakes, it is formed by chemical deposition in salt lakes, and also includes cliff (rock) salts in sedimentary layers of different geological periods, mostly primary salts. It is distributed in Qinghai, Gansu, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Anhui, Yunnan and Xizang. Mainly produced in Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia.
4. Harvesting and processing
Can be harvested throughout the year. Harvest mostly from June to August, remove from salt lakes, and sun dry.
5. Characteristics of medicinal herbs
Irregular multi block shape. Large particles can be seen as funnel-shaped growth relics, forming irregular pits. Blue white to dark white, semi transparent, with a fat like luster, and some can see unevenly distributed blue spots. Hard and brittle, easy to break, clean cross-section, with a glassy luster. Mild in flavor and salty in taste.
6. Nature, taste, and meridian tropism
Cold in nature and salty in taste. Guixin Meridian, Kidney Meridian, and Bladder Meridian.
7. Effect and function
Relieve heat, cool blood, brighten eyes, and moisturize dryness. Clear heat and laxative gunpowder belonging to the subcategory of heat clearing medicine.
8. Clinical applications
Dosage: 0.6-1 grams, decoct and take, or add to pills or powder; Apply an appropriate amount externally, wipe your teeth or rinse your mouth and eyes with hydration. Used to treat hematuria, hematemesis, bleeding of the teeth and tongue, swelling and pain of the eyes, wind eye erosion, toothache, and constipation.
9. Pharmacological research
The dilute solution of oral administration of green salt can promote gastric secretion, increase gastric acid and aid digestion, stimulate the intestinal mucosa, enhance its peristalsis and secretion, and facilitate the excretion of feces. As for the absorption of free sodium ions into the bloodstream, due to the effect of osmotic pressure, it can absorb water from tissues and stimulate the kidneys, resulting in diuretic effects. In addition, it also has some coagulation effects on blood.
10. Chemical composition
Mainly containing sodium chloride, in addition to potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, calcium sulfate, and iron, the impurities contained are mostly mechanical mixtures.
11. Taboos for use
Use with caution for those with edema.
12. Compatibility prescription
