2. Plant morphology
Herbaceous shrubs. The plant height is 20-40 centimeters. The woody stem is short or creeping. Leaves are 2-lobed, with sharp triangular lobes and pointed tips, accounting for 1/3-2/3 of the leaf sheath. Male bulbous flowers often form compound spike like inflorescences, with 4 pairs of bracts and 7-8 stamens. The filaments are fused or slightly separated at the top. Female bulbous flowers have a solitary branch top or old branch leaf axil, with 4 pairs of bracts, and the top 1 pair of fused parts accounts for more than 1/2, with 2 female flowers. When the female bulbous flower is ripe, its flesh is red, and it is oblong or spherical, about 8 millimeters long. There are 2 seeds, and the seeds are triangular or spherical, 5-6 millimeters long. The flowering period is from May to June, and the seeds mature from August to September.
