2. Plant morphology
Annual erect herb, about 60 centimeters tall. The stem is thick and fleshy. Leaves alternate, lanceolate, apex long pointed, margin deeply serrated, base wedge-shaped, petiole glandular. Flowers are bisexual, axillary, pink, red, purple, white or variegated, single or double petaled, with 3 sepals, 2 lateral, green tips, 1 lower, large, petal shaped, spaced, 5 petals, the upper petal (flag petal) is circular, the tip is concave and has a small sharp tip, and 2 pairs of petals (wing petals) on both sides are fused together on one side to form 2 petals, 5 stamens, fused together to surround the ovary, and the ovary is superior. The capsule has soft hairs and when ripe, it splits into 5 rolled fruit petals. The seeds are flattened and oval in shape, with a diameter of about 2 millimeters, and brown in color.

Distributed in most parts of the country, it is mostly planted in courtyards for ornamental purposes.
