Xiaochaihu Tang is my favorite first prescription in clinical practice, which can be used with modifications to solve many diseases. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) teaches the treatment of combined diseases of the three yang factors, with a focus on Shaoyang. According to Article 99 of the Treatise on Cold Damage, if the body is hot, the wind is strong, the neck and neck are strong, the lower abdomen is full, and the hands and feet are warm and thirsty for four or five days of typhoid fever, Xiaochaihu Tang is recommended. In Chapter 148 of the Treatise on Febrile Diseases: For five or six days of typhoid fever, if there is sweating on the head, slight aversion to cold, cold hands and feet, a full heart, reluctance to eat in the mouth, loose stools, and thin veins, this is called Yang micro nodules, which must have surface and internal circulation, and the pulse is also sinking in the internal circulation. Sweating is a sign of mild yang, and if the false order is pure yin, there should be no external evidence, and it should be fully inside. This is half inside and half outside. Although the pulse is deep and tight, it cannot be caused by Shaoyin disease. So naturally, there should be no sweat in the Yin, and now sweat is coming out of the head, so it is known that there is no shortage of Yin. It can be mixed with Xiaochaihu Tang. If it can't be set, it will be solved by poop. Xiaochaihu Tang can not only harmonize Shaoyang, invigorate the liver and gallbladder, and promote the circulation of the exterior and interior, but also promote the circulation of qi and regulate the flow of qi, resulting in smooth circulation of the six organs, peace of the five organs, balance of yin and yang, and harmonization of qi and blood. Therefore, its efficacy is remarkable and its treatment is excellent. Previous sages should have praised the wonderful use of Xiaochaihu Tang, and now I would like to express my respect.

Analysis of Soup Formula
Chaihu is mainly used as a medicinal herb, which has several major effects such as clearing qi, dispelling evil and reaching the surface, and promoting hair and clearing yang. Scutellaria baicalensis has the function of clearing the lungs, stomach, liver, gallbladder, and intestines. It can be used to clear the heat of half a mile of Shaoyang, the heat of the liver and gallbladder, and the heat caused by qi stagnation, making it a medicinal herb. The matching of ruler and minister is the basic structure for reconciling Shaoyang, as it allows the evil of Shaoyang to penetrate from the outside and clear from the inside. Gallbladder qi invades the stomach, causing disharmony and nausea. It is accompanied by Pinellia ternata, ginger, and stomach reducing nausea and vomiting. Ginger also produces Pinellia ternata toxin; The entry of evil into Shaoyang is due to the deficiency of the original righteous qi. Therefore, ginseng and jujube are also used to nourish qi and strengthen the spleen, which not only strengthens the body to dispel evil, but also prevents the internal transmission of evil. Roasted licorice helps to invigorate ginseng and jujube, and can also harmonize various medicines, making it a medicinal herb. When various medicines are used together, the main focus is on relieving Shaoyang and harmonizing stomach qi, which can relieve evil qi, benefit the cardinal, harmonize stomach qi, and eliminate various symptoms.

If you feel annoyed in your chest but don't vomit, go to Pinellia ternata, ginseng, and add Trichosanthes kirilowii to clear heat, regulate qi, and widen your chest. If thirsty, go to Pinellia ternata and add heavenly pollen to quench thirst and promote diuresis. If there is abdominal pain, remove Huangqin and add Shaoyao to soften the liver and relieve pain slowly and urgently. If the lower abdomen is hard, remove the jujube and add oysters to make it soft, firm, and loose. If there is palpitations and difficulty urinating, remove Huangqin and add Poria cocos and Lishui to calm the heart. If you are not thirsty and have a slight heat outside, go to ginseng and add cinnamon twigs to relieve symptoms. If coughing, remove ginseng, jujube, ginger, and add Schisandra chinensis and dried ginger to warm the lungs and relieve cough.
