"In the north, it is black. It goes into the kidney, opens the orifices in the two yin, and stores essence in the kidney, so the disease is in the stream. It tastes salty, its water is like swine, its grain beans, it should be four seasons, and the star is on top of it, to know that the disease is in the bone. Its sound and feathers are six, and its smell is rotten." - "The Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic • Suwen • Golden Chamber True Words Chapter IV"
We see that many young people nowadays have insufficient kidney qi, decreased memory, and dark circles under their eyes. What's the reason? It's just playing with your phone every day, such as looking at your computer, playing games, or playing on your iPad, which consumes your body's energy through mental exhaustion. I have previously taught specifically about the concept of essence, qi, and spirit. Essence is the foundation, qi is energy, and spirit is information. We consume too much of God's energy, so we need to use Qi and essence to provide for God's prosperity. For example, God is like the flame of an oil lamp, and essence is like the oil of an oil lamp. After the flame is set too high, the oil runs out quickly. This way, everyone can understand. People who think too much consume oil very quickly, but its flame may be very bright.
Let me give another example. In ancient times, there was a famous figure - Zhuge Liang. He used his brain all day long, which greatly consumed his energy and spirit. His lifespan was not long, he passed away in his fifties. In fact, it's because he consumes a lot of energy. He consumes energy not because of indulgence or other reasons, but because of long-term thinking and excessive consumption of energy. Just like a lamp, when the light is on, the oil is consumed quickly, and when the oil is consumed quickly, the lamp runs dry, making it easy to die prematurely, with poor health and weakness.
Looking at the people around us now, we will find that many of them are aging so quickly. Why are they aging so quickly recently? It's because of anxiety disorders, such as having a lot of company affairs and worries, worrying about a lot of things all day long, that hair quickly turns white and begins to age. I know a good friend who used to be very young and had very good skin. She was a girl, but her career development was very fast and successful, and she also consumed a lot of energy. In recent years, her face has wrinkles, her skin has become loose, her complexion has turned yellow, and some of her hair has turned white. Her peers have not aged as quickly as she does because she is too hardworking and exhausted, which is not acceptable. From a career perspective, it is very successful, but from a health or physical standpoint, it consumes too much energy, which is called damaging kidney qi.
Here, I also want to remind the audience that when striving for a career, everyone must have a balance between tension and relaxation, and act according to their physical abilities. Some people are born with sufficient kidney essence, and they can fight no matter how hard they try. I have encountered many people like this in outpatient clinics or in my daily life. Some of them are big entrepreneurs, who are physically extraordinary and have extremely abundant energy. They may only sleep for four or five hours a day, and the rest of the time is either in meetings, work, or conversations. They even eat boxed meals and are workaholics. If an ordinary person takes on his job, he really can't stand it. He can do the workload of three ordinary people alone. But they are not old either, and they don't age quickly. Their health is still good, and there are no major problems. What's the reason for this? From the perspective of ancient Chinese thinking, it is because he was born with sufficient kidney qi. Another thing is that he is good at regulating himself, especially in adjusting his mentality, so he does a great job in this area and has extraordinary energy.
Some people just can't handle it, they get tired with just a little thought, feel a little frustrated, and can't hold on anymore. From the perspective of ancient Chinese people, this was a congenital weakness in kidney qi, resulting in poor spirit, energy, and ability to withstand pressure. So I advise the audience here to be based on their actual situation, for example, you must know how many bowls of rice you eat and not pull a cart with a small horse. There are several major dangers mentioned by ancient Chinese people, one of which is the lack of virtue and respect for position. Morality is very thin and not thick enough, but the position is particularly respected. This is the first danger. The second danger is that your strength is small but your responsibility is great, which means that your ability is very small, but the task given to you is particularly heavy. This is what the common people call a small horse pulling a big cart, and a small horse must get tired and lie down. Let the big car be pulled by the big horse, and our little horse can pull the small car, that's how it matches. So in traditional Chinese culture, the word 'he' has always been particularly emphasized. What is' and '? Harmony, in fact, means matching. So I would like to extend and share this content with everyone here. I hope that through my explanation, I can inspire everyone's wisdom and apply it to your life. This is' hidden essence in the kidney '.
Looking back, 'the illness lies in the creek', what does' creek 'refer to? Here's the point, "xi" literally means small stream, a small river ditch in the mountains. According to Zhang Jiebin in "Tibetan Elephants IV", a stream refers to the "stream where water flows". Many medical experts in later generations have commented in this way, as stated in the "Annotations on the Collection of Su Wen": "The stream is the flesh of the small parts, connected between the muscles and bones, which is the kidney that controls the bones, and the stream is the flesh of the parts produced by bone qi." The meaning of the stream is that because the kidney controls the bones, the stream refers to the small flesh next to the bones, which is called the stream. Therefore, the meaning of this place is that when kidney disease occurs, there will be problems with the small flesh next to the bones, which is called "disease in the stream".
How to understand when it comes to clinical practice? Those bone disease patients, whether it's rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, cervical spondylosis, or lumbar spondylosis, their pain is not in the bones themselves. Attention everyone, inflammation occurs in the joints next to the bones, including the joints connected to them.
We see that in both rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis films, the soft tissue around the bone becomes inflamed at the beginning, and over time, it continuously deposits and calcifies, leading to bone deformation. The initial onset of the disease is not in the bones themselves, but in the soft tissues surrounding the bones, such as fascia and connective tissue, where the disease occurs. These organizations correspond to the meaning of "illness in the stream" in the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon.
