For those with yang energy, they dominate the outside world in one day. When the sun is calm, the yang energy is strong in the middle of the day. When the sun is west, the yang energy is already weak, and the valves are closed. It is because of the evening that they withdraw and reject, without disturbing the muscles and bones, and without seeing fog or dew. On the other hand, when these three times are reversed, the form becomes weak and weak. "-" Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, Suwen, Chapter Three of the Treatise on the Integration of Qi and Heaven "
This is a reminder to follow the pattern of the sun when choosing exercise in the morning. What if many people wake up early in the morning and want to exercise? Teach everyone to exercise at home as much as possible. If you have to exercise, after waking up in the morning, you can exercise in the living room at home by standing at a stake or walking in circles. I have talked about standing on stakes, walking in circles, and practicing the Eight dan Brocade before, all of which can be done this way.
After exercising, finish breakfast, wait for the sun to come out at eight or nine o'clock, then go outdoors to breathe fresh air, and then engage in activities such as taking a walk. This is acceptable. However, do not let it be dark and cold outside on that day, with heavy fog and dew - fog and dew are the yin cold and yin damp qi that are most likely to harm people. Do not go out for exercise. During the day, when the yang energy is strong, the yang energy is at its fullest and can be exercised to a greater extent. Many people exercise through work. I have found that there are many big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, and many companies have fitness and exercise areas around their workplaces. After lunch, you can exercise and move your body during your lunch break, and your qi and blood flow is smooth because of the "strong yang qi in the middle of the day".
As the sun sets, the yang energy becomes weak. As the saying goes, 'The valve is closed.' It is not recommended to exercise after sunset. The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon says, 'It is because of the evening that one should withdraw and reject, without disturbing the muscles and bones.' Therefore, when night comes, one should restrain the body's yang energy and not disturb the muscles and bones. At this time, do not engage in outdoor activities as there is no visible fog or dew. When these three periods are reversed, the form becomes thin and difficult to maintain. This violates the health laws of these three periods, and the form becomes "thin and difficult". This is the truth behind it. Let's take a look at Zhang Zhicong's annotation. He annotated the combination of Pingdan, Rizhong, Rizxi, and the four seasons. Zhang Zhicong's annotation: "A day is divided into four hours, with the morning being spring, the middle of the day being summer, the beginning of the day being autumn, and the middle of the night being winter." Therefore, "morning" refers to the vitality of people in the morning, which is the same as the four seasons of the year. Morning is spring, noon is summer, evening is autumn, and midnight is winter. This is the rule of the day and conforms to the rule of the four hours.
Let's take another look at the understanding of this passage by other ancient commentators. During a day, there is a certain pattern of changes in the rise and fall of yang energy. If one does not follow the pattern of yang energy growth and decline in their daily routine, it will cause fatigue and weakness in the body. The "Lei Jing" was written by Zhang Jiebin. When Zhang Jiebin annotated this paragraph of the original text, he said: "This is why it follows the Yang Qi, rising at sunrise, storing Yang Qi, and storing Yang Qi in Yin at dusk. Therefore, it is advisable to restrain movement to resist deficiency and evil." One should follow the method of Yang Qi to maintain health, that is, when the sun rises, the body begins to go out, "storing Yang Qi". People who have set the sun should also collect it. So, in the evening, the yang energy of the human body is stored in the yin branch, so "movement should be restrained". This activity should be restrained to "resist deficiency evil" and resist the thief wind of deficiency evil.
Furthermore, if there is no disturbance to the muscles and bones, then the yang will not dissipate internally, and if there is no mist or dew, then evil will not invade externally. If labor and disturbance do not distinguish between morning and evening, then the yang energy will be lost and the body will become tired and weak. "" No disturbance to the muscles and bones "means not to disturb the muscles and bones, and the yang energy will not be consumed on its own. 'No visible mist and dew' means not engaging in activities outside and not allowing mist and dew to invade, so that external pathogens will not invade the body. Labor disturbance "refers to the disturbance of muscles and bones regardless of morning or evening, and labor and disturbance of muscles and bones regardless of morning or evening. When these three times are reversed, the yang energy will be lost and the body will become tired and weak.
From this, we can see that many young people exercise at night, start running at night, and then exercise their bodies, but still sweat a lot. This is not in line with the health laws of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon. At night, the human body should be quiet. In terms of endocrine function, the autonomic nervous system begins to coordinate and gradually suppress, and the human body gradually becomes in a quiet state. At night, it will rest well. If you are very excited about exercising at night, your yang energy will be depleted and your body will become weak and weak. In the Commentary on the Sutra of Suwen, it is annotated: "It is advisable to top up the verse, saying that when the sun is in the middle of the day, the qi flows in the yang direction, and when it is movable, it moves; when the sun is in the west, the qi flows in the yin direction, and when it is still, it is still. If the movement and stillness are contrary to the time, the qi will be weak and the form will be bad." This refers to activities during the day, and if the opposite is true at night, the body will "weaken and become thin. The summary of this passage in "Su Wen Zhi Jie" is to echo the previous text, so "teaching people to cultivate Yang Qi is like this". It is about teaching people to cultivate Yang Qi according to time sequence, which is also the same as the time sequence we mentioned before. It is a method of adopting Yang Qi for health preservation according to the law of time. So, in one word, the truth is conveyed.
The focus of today's class is to talk about the daily activity and diet patterns. Eating more in the morning can provide more nutrition. But be sure to eat warm food, drink warm water, don't drink cold water, drink cold water, and eat cold food; You can eat more during the day; At night, the yang energy begins to weaken, and at this time, diet should be reduced. The same goes for physical exercise in the body. You can exercise in the morning and also exercise appropriately at noon. After nightfall, try not to exercise as much as possible, which is called "no disturbance to muscles and bones, no visible fog and dew". This is in line with the laws and methods of health preservation in the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon.
